Vandalia Health Mon Medical Center recognized for excellence with ACC HeartCARE Center redesignation
Posted Date: 2/12/2026
The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has once again awarded Vandalia Health Mon Medical Center the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, quality culture and cardiovascular care.
The first hospital in West Virginia to be awarded the HeartCARE Center designation in 2020 — and the 28th hospital in the nation — Mon Medical Center earned redesignation in 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025 and most recently in 2026 through meeting accreditation criteria and ongoing performance registry reporting.
“This redesignation reflects the continued dedication and collaboration of our physicians, nurses and entire cardiovascular team,” said Bradford Warden, MD, Executive Director and Chief of Cardiology, Vandalia Health Mon Heart & Vascular Center. “By consistently meeting the rigorous standards set by the American College of Cardiology — from rapid chest pain evaluation to advanced interventional and surgical care — we demonstrate our commitment to clinical excellence and continuous improvement in cardiovascular care.”
Hospitals earning the ACC HeartCARE Center designation must meet rigorous criteria, including participation in multiple ACC Accreditation Services programs, national data registries, and targeted quality-improvement initiatives. Mon Medical Center holds ACC accreditations as a Chest Pain Center with PCI and an Electrophysiology Center and participates in national registries that focus on improving outcomes in heart procedures, managing chest pain and heart attacks, ensuring device safety and preventing strokes.
“Mon Medical Center was proud to be the first hospital in West Virginia to earn the ACC HeartCARE Center designation, and this redesignation reflects our continued investment in leading, quality heart care,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon and Davis Health Systems–Vandalia Health Northern Region, and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “Through ongoing support for advanced technology, clinical expertise, and provider-led care teams that work seamlessly across specialties to coordinate care, we remain committed to ensuring patients across our region have access to comprehensive, nationally recognized heart care close to home.”
In addition to its ACC accreditations and designations, Mon Medical Center is:
- The first hospital in the region to offer WATCHMAN FLX for atrial fibrillation (AFib).
- The first in West Virginia to perform a coordinated procedure combining WATCHMAN FLX Pro and FARAPULSE PFA technology to enhance stroke prevention and rhythm control for AFib patients.
- The first and only hospital in the region offering renal denervation for high blood pressure using the Paradise Ultrasound Renal Denervation (RDN) system.
- Echocardiography-accredited.
- A HeartFlow CT Quality Award recipient for advancements in cardiac imaging.
