There are three main treatments for most cancers: surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Your treatment program could include one of these, a combination of two, or all three. This will be determined by your doctor and you (including input from your family and/or caregivers if you choose to include them.)
We are ever-mindful that successful cancer treatment can also involve emotional support and financial support. Ours is a multidisciplinary team approach to treating cancer, and you can rely on your healthcare team to treat YOU, our patient, and not just your illness.
We are extremely proud of our award-winning record for both patient experience and patient safety.
Surgery
Our experienced surgeons and surgical oncologists have performed thousands of procedures in Mon Health's state-of-the-art surgical suites. Technological innovations include minimally invasive options such as robotically assisted surgery with the daVinci surgical system.
Your particular surgery will depend on a number of factors, including your cancer diagnosis, and the size and location of the tumor.

Chemotherapy/Infusion
Infusion therapy includes the administration if intravenous (IV) medication (chemotherapy) and/ or intravenous fluid and/or blood products as ordered by your physician. Chemotherapy drugs are prepared by Mon Health pharmacists, specifically for each individual patient. The drugs travel through the body to attack cancer cells wherever they are.
Our out-patient infusion center has been uniquely designed to provide a safe and comfortable setting for our chemotherapy patients.
- Some of our infusion rooms are private, and family-members or caregivers are always welcome to accompany you to your treatment.
- Chemotherapy drugs are administered by a staff of registered nurses who have all been specially trained and certified for this type of therapy. You’ll find them to be a wealth of knowledge about cancer treatment, and they’re always happy to answer your questions.
- We are especially proud of the low turn-over among our staff. You’ll see many of the same faces when you visit. This is the foundation of the family atmosphere for which we are known.
- Mon Health Medical Center volunteers are always close by, and they share our commitment to patient care.
Radiation Therapy
The Mon Health Cancer Center is now providing radiation oncology services, allowing cancer patients to receive all their care and treatment on the Morgantown campus.
Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to shrink tumors and kill cancer cells. Treatment is administered on an out-patient basis.
