Posted Date: 7/9/2025
Vandalia Health Mon Preston Memorial Hospital Sleep Center in Reedsville has earned continued accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), marking 10 consecutive years of nationally recognized excellence in sleep care.
Directed by Khaldoun Mozahem, MD, the Mon Preston Memorial Hospital Sleep Center provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for people experiencing a wide range of sleep-related conditions, including obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy.
To earn and maintain five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all AASM standards for professional health care. These benchmarks address areas such as personnel qualifications, facility and equipment, clinical policies and procedures, data collection, patient care and continuous quality improvement.
“To receive this accreditation for a full decade is a testament to the skill and dedication of our team,” said Dr. Mozahem. “We are proud to provide evidence-based, compassionate care that helps patients improve not only their sleep but also their overall health and quality of life.”
“Maintaining AASM accreditation requires consistent focus on quality, patient safety and clinical excellence. I’m incredibly proud of our staff’s hard work and ongoing commitment to meeting the highest standards in sleep medicine,” said Kendra Unger, RRT, Cardiopulmonary and Sleep Manager, Mon Preston Memorial Hospital Sleep Center.
The AASM first accredited a sleep center in 1977 and today recognizes more than 2,300 accredited centers across the United States. It is the nation’s premier professional society dedicated to the advancement of sleep care and the promotion of healthier lives through better sleep.
“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates Mon Preston Memorial Hospital Sleep Center on continuing to meet the rigorous standards necessary to maintain accreditation for sleep services,” said AASM President Dr. Anita V. Shelgikar. “AASM accreditation is the gold standard in sleep care, reflecting a commitment to delivering quality, patient-centered services that help people sleep better and live healthier lives.”
