Mon Health Wedgewood Primary Care and Psychiatry welcomes Pediatric and General Psychiatrist Melissa Albert.

Dr. Albert, who is from Clarksburg, graduated valedictorian from Notre Dame High School.

She attended medical school at the WVU School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, OH, and a residency with WVU School of Medicine, Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry.

Dr. Albert chose to specialize in psychiatry to help her patients find a sense of contentment and wellbeing.

“As a West Virginia native, I feel it’s important to provide quality care for my fellow Mountaineers, because we’re often over looked,” she said. “Our children are the cornerstone of our society and our state, and by treating the mental and physical health of our children, we’ll ensure a brighter future.”

Dr. Albert is also a Dr. Rainbow physician, which is a designation awarded to healthcare providers who are dedicated to providing the LGBTQ community with quality healthcare and a strong support system.

Dr. Albert said she chose to join Mon Health Wedgewood Primary Care & Psychiatry because of its long-standing history in the Morgantown community and its focus on providing quality care.

The providers and staff are looking forward to adding Dr. Albert to the Mon Health Wedgewood family.

“We’re extremely blessed to have someone with Dr. Albert’s background and expertise joining our team,” said Pediatrician Vincent Kolanko. “She’ll be a tremendous asset to the behavioral health of children and families in the Morgantown community.”

Dr. Albert will begin seeing patients on Aug. 1 at 1000 Mon Health Medical Park Drive, Suite 1202.
