Mon Health to Partner with Wedgewood Family Practice and Psychiatry Associates

Wedgewood Family Practice and Psychiatry Associates and Mon Health have reached an agreement to improve access and choice for primary care in the region. Once the agreement takes effect, Wedgewood Family Practice and Psychiatry Associates, the largest private primary care practice in North Central West Virginia, will become the Mon Health primary care vehicle for growth within the region. 

“We wanted to make sure that our patients continue to receive the highest quality of care in this changing healthcare environment and we determined the best way we could do that was to partner with Mon Health,” said C. Brian Arthurs, M.D., Wedgewood’s President. “Both organizations have a strong reputation for excellent patient care and we have closely aligned values.”

The agreement takes effect March 1, 2017.  Patients will not see any immediate changes but several are planned over the course of the coming months that will significantly improve the patient’s experience. The most notable of which is a move to the Mon Health Medical Park. The clinics currently located on VanVoorhis Road and Burroughs Street will move to the second floor of Building 1000 on the Mon Health campus later this summer. The Westover clinic site will eventually be relocating to a new building being erected at the Gateway development off I-79 Exit 155 in Star City. The Cheat Lake location on Fort Pierpont Road will remain unchanged. The practice will also be converting to the same electronic health record as other Mon Health physician practices, allowing the convenient sharing of health information across all Mon Health providers, both in the outpatient and inpatient arenas.

Wedgewood Family Practice and Psychiatry Associates includes 13 physicians and 8 advanced practice professionals across four sites. Office hours, including evening and weekend hours, will continue to remain the same.
