Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital to Host Substance Use and Addition Roundtable

Posted Date: 3/21/2024
Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital will host the Substance Use and Addiction Recovery Roundtable on March 26 at 2PM at 89 Arnold Ave in Weston.

In collaboration with the Lewis County Family Resource Network, Vally Healthcare System, Jobs and Hope program, and the Lewis County Health Department, Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital will host the roundtable event.

“We are trying to reduce stigma around substance abuse and recovery in the area and highlight evidence-based medicine, giving individuals the best chance at recovery,” said Dr. Bruce Gorby, Addictions Medicine Specialist and Interim Medical Director Valley Healthcare System. “Together, as a community, we can accomplish more. There are many paths to recovery and we want this to become a recovery friendly community, showing people that those in recovery are not bad people trying to become good, but are sick people trying to get well.”

This event is open to the public to hear from stakeholders on their efforts to combat, educate, provide resources, and more on substance use in Lewis County. Participants can reserve their spot by calling either (304) 884-8941 or (304) 517-8612.

“We strive to provide updated education and resources to our community members so that they remain well informed and have appropriate access to the care that they need,” said Kevin Stalnaker, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “Addiction has been at the top of our Community Health Needs Assessment since 2013 and these events are one of the ways we respond to that need in the community. We’re proud to take part in hosting this event and remain committed to enhancing the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time.”
