October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Lewis County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) Clubs are partnering together to sponsor the 30th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon to encourage community members to learn more about the importance of early detection for breast cancer.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon will be held at Noon on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Weston and will feature two nurses, Christy Beam and Jamie Clem Breen, that are breast cancer survivors that will speak on their experiences.
“I want to inspire with the hope of health and wellness for my friends, family, and community. People must remain vigilant and receive their yearly screenings and recommended follow-up visits. Early detection saves lives,” said guest speaker and survivor, Jamie Clem Breen.
Individuals who are interested in participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon must register by Monday, Oct. 7 by calling (304) 269-4660.
One of the best screenings for breast cancer is a mammogram. Research shows that women who have regular mammograms are more likely to catch early signs of breast cancer by detecting breast changes years before physical symptoms might occur. Mon Health offers 3D Mammograms for patients and guarantees screening results within 24 hours. To learn more about 3D mammograms offered across Mon Health System, visit MonHealth.com/Mammogram.
