Mon Health Medical Center Receives the only “A” in WV for Patient Safety by Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

MORGANTOWN, WV (November 8, 2019) – Mon Health Medical Center is proud to announce it was nationally awarded an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grade.

Of more than 2,600 hospitals rated by Leapfrog across the country, this designation recognizes Mon Health Medical Center among the 878 who received an “A” grade, the highest possible score, for proven efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting rigorous safety standards. Mon Health Medical Center is the only hospital in West Virginia to receive this honor for Fall 2019 out of the 22 hospitals in the state with available data.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent. Results are free to the public.

In the past year, the hospitals that make up Mon Health System have been nationally and regionally recognized for excellence and quality. The prestigious U.S. News and World Report national health care rankings also named Mon Health Medical Center among the highest in patient experience in West Virginia for 2019-20 quality ratings and the third-best hospital in the state.
