Mon Health Medical Center Receives FCC Approval of Telehealth Application

Posted Date: 6/29/2020
Mon Health Medical Center has received approval from the Federal Communications Commission on its telehealth platform application submission.

Mon Health Medical Center will receive funding totaling $283,396 to enhance its current comprehensive telehealth program encompassing patient visits, including COVID-19 screening and diagnosis, medication management, chronic disease management and behavioral health visits. The funds received by Mon Health Medical Center were allocated from the $200 million in funding for the telehealth pilot program through the federal CARES Act.

“The funds received will enable us to continue serving patients through our existing telehealth services,” explained Luella Gunter, Mon Health Executive Director of Philanthropy. “Providing the telehealth option is vital for the safety of our community during these unprecedented times of crisis.”

The Mon Health System introduced telehealth visits in March to provide quality care to patients from the security of their own homes and to further prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Patient safety is our chief priority and providing telehealth services has enabled us to safeguard the communities served by Mon Health through both treatment and preventive measures,” said David Goldberg, Mon Health President and CEO. “We thank Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito who were instrumental in making this grant a reality. Our entire congressional delegation has been very supportive, and we are grateful for their leadership and representation throughout the pandemic."

Virtual care enables patients to receive an evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment from a healthcare provider. In addition, providers can send prescription orders to the patient’s pharmacy of choice. To learn more about telehealth visits provided by Mon Health visit MonHealth.com/Virtual
