John Sunyecz, MD, FACOG, CCD, a gynecologist with Mon Health Medical Center practicing in Hopwood, PA, was named to the Foundation of American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Executive Board of Directors. Since 1971, AAGL has been a leading global association promoting minimally invasive gynecologic surgery among surgeons worldwide.

As a board member, Dr. Sunyecz will help with strategic planning and guidance on the philanthropic effort of the AAGL Foundation. Having already served three years, he will serve an additional four-year term on the executive board initially as secretary/treasurer and ascending to board chairman.

"It will be gratifying to work with this board as we provide resources to fund teaching, research, global outreach, mentorship and other initiatives that improve the health of women worldwide," he said. "I hope to bring my strengths of strategic planning and guidance on the philanthropic efforts as I continue my involvement with the AAGL Foundation."

Dr. Sunyecz joined Mon Health Medical Center in July along with Christine, Wilson, MD, FACOG, CCD, after ongoing reorganization with community medical services in the Uniontown, PA area. The partnership with Mon Health Medical Center ensured the office remained open to provide women accessible, high-quality gynecologic care from trusted experts.

Mon Health Medical Center recently was awarded as a five-star recipient in gynecologic procedures, gynecologic surgery and hysterectomy from Healthgrades. The hospital was also the first in the state of West Virginia to become a Baby-Friendly designated hospital through the World Health Organization (WHO).
