Mon Health Medical Center & Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Announce Board Changes

Mon Health Medical Center and Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital have announced the newest board members to their governing bodies.

Samuel A. Chico, III recently joined the Mon Health Medical Center Board. Chico is a Morgantown native and graduate of West Virginia University (WVU). Chico is the founding principal of several companies including August Environmental, A2Z Construction, Inc., Squid Ink Graphics, CoCo IT Systems, August Realty LLC, Aquila Stone INC, and PaxSanus LLC. He has served on the WVU Board of Governors as well as on numerous charitable organizations including the Monongalia County Board of Health, WV Oil Marketers & Grocers Association, Chestnut Mountain Ranch, St. Francis School, St. John University Parish, PACE Tech, and the WVU Foundation. Chico and his wife Sherry have five children, Sydney, Sophia, Shae, Sela, and Samuel A. Chico, IV.

Reverend Junius Lewis has also joined the Mon Health Medical Center Board. Reverend Lewis came to Morgantown as the Center for the WVU Mountaineer Men’s Basketball Team from 1975 to 1979 before going on to pursue professional basketball in France. He founded Junius Lewis Ministries and Greater Love Family Outreach Ministries and spent more than 16 years working in the pharmaceutical industry. Junius is married to his wife, Rebecca, who recently retired with 25 years of service at the Department of Justice. They have three children together, Junele, Junius III, and Jonathan, and one grandchild, Aaron.

“We’re excited for each of our new board members to join the Mon Health Medical Center Board. Their deep involvement and knowledge of our community will be an incredible asset to our Board,” said Senator Roman Prezioso, Chairman of the Mon Health Medical Center Board.

Nick Taylor, a native of Preston County, has been elected Board Chair of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital after serving on the Board for several years. Upon graduation from WVU, Taylor began his banking career with WesBanco and currently serves as the Market President of the bank’s North Central West Virginia and Parkersburg markets. Taylor volunteers on several boards including Preston County Economic Development Authority and was a past member of the Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation Board. He will also serve as the Assistant General Chairman of the 79th Preston County Buckwheat Festival. He is a 2018 graduate of Leadership West Virginia and was selected as a Generation Next: 40 Under 40 recipient in 2021. Taylor is married to his high school sweetheart, Melissa, and they currently reside in Kingwood with their three children, Brady, Jay, and Reagan.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nick as our new Board Chair,” said Melissa Lockwood, Chief Administrative Officer at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. “His leadership on our Board the last several years has helped advance our mission and we look forward to working alongside him to make a profound impact in the health of our region.”

These Board changes are effective immediately and each of their terms will continue through 2022.

“Such respected community leaders joining our Boards is an asset for us,” said Ron Stovash, Mon Health System Board Chairman. “Sam, Reverend Lewis, and Nick will all add to our Board leadership as we continue to provide community-focused care right here in North Central West Virginia.”
