Mon Health Medical Center is Thankful for its Volunteers this Holiday Season

Adult, college student, and junior volunteers serve in many roles across Mon Health Medical Center. From the Family Birth Center to the Emergency Department, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital and in caring for patients.
“The volunteers made an impact on me when my husband was in the infusion center with cancer and after I retired, I wanted to pay it forward and become a volunteer myself,” said Roseann Hagee, Mon Health Medical Center Volunteer of the Year. “When you give a patient a warm blanket, you’ve given them the moon. It’s the little things that make people feel cared for and that’s one reason why I volunteer.”
Volunteers also assist in the fundraising efforts of the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary, the fundraising arm of the hospital. This season, the Auxiliary is collecting clothing donations for its Care Closet. Individuals who might have experienced an unexpected hospital stay, or patients who need something to wear upon discharge may receive items from this Care Closet.
Items that can be donated to the Care Closet include: new undergarments, shirts, and sweatpants of various sizes. If you would like to donate, visit the Gift Shop at Mon Health Medical Center and grab a tag from the Angel Tree to donate a new item of clothing.
“Our volunteers are extremely valuable and contribute to much of the behind-the-scenes work of the hospital,” says Jacob Mulder, Director of Volunteer Services and Guest Services. “We hope to continue to expand our volunteer program so that we can grow the impact we make in the hospital and in the lives of patients.”
