Mon Health Medical Center appoints new Chief Operating Officer

Dorothy (Dottie) Oakes, RN, MSN, has joined Mon Health Medical Center as the Chief Operating Officer, effective Nov. 27. She succeeds Sarah Woodrum, who took a faculty position at WVU School of Public Health.

Oakes is co-founder and chief nursing officer of ChangePartner, an organization that combines adaptive mobile technology with behavior science to improve the patient experience and quality of care.

Prior to her role at ChangePartner, she served as vice president and chief nursing officer at WVU Hospitals for 13 years. During that time, she led the organization through three successful Magnet designations. 

Oakes received her bachelor’s in nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her master’s from Duke University. She also completed the Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives.
