Mon Health Cuts Ribbon to Expand Services in Greater Fairmont Area at Fairmont Technology Park

Posted Date: 9/17/2020

On World Patient Safety Day, Mon Health System, the Marion County Chamber of Commerce and local dignitaries held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of Mon Health Primary Care, Cardiology and introduce specialty services in the Greater Fairmont area at its new location in the Fairmont Technology Park on Thursday, September 17.

"I have been honored to serve in the State Legislature representing the citizens of Marion and Monongalia counties for the past 3 decades ensuring that our citizens and surrounding communities continue to have a real choice in where they get their healthcare," said Senator Roman Prezioso, Mon Health Medical Center Board Chair. "At Mon Health, our vision and mission are to provide accessible, affordable, and quality care close to home to the citizens of Marion County. We look forward to expanding our services here in the Fairmont Technology Park and keep healthcare local for our patients."

The new location will include expanded clinical office space for Mon Health Primary Care physicians Drs. Marilyn Bonfili and Lisa Flower. Both Dr. Bonfili and Dr. Flower will vacate their existing office space on Locust Avenue to move to the larger facility after renovations are completed in 2021. Longtime regional Mon Health Medical Center cardiologist, Dr. Paul Alappat, will also see patients in the Technology Park office location when renovations are complete.

"We are excited to continue to bring Greater Fairmont residents excellent medical care close to home by the trusted Mon Health providers they already know right in their neighborhood," said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System. "It is not that we are simply doubling the size of the Primary Care clinic. We are also adding various visiting specialties and much needed clinicians to expand the service offerings that we provide. On World Patient Safety Day and every day, it’s important to ensure timely access always to our valued patients that entrust their care to our well-regarded Mon Health providers and programs." The site will feature point of care test services, with space for future expansion of services such as on-site x-ray.

Jim Estep, President and CEO of the High Technology Foundation added, "The Mon Health expansion at the I-79 Technology Park is a valuable addition to our economic diversification efforts. The impact of the expansion to the Fairmont community will be very positive, but the strategic value to the I-79 Technology Park will be significant."
