Mon Health Announces Emergency Department Medical Director

Mon Health System has named Dr. Christopher Edwards the Emergency Department Medical Director leading the emergency medicine service line approach to care at all Mon Health facilities.

Dr. Edwards began as the Mon Health Medical Center Director of Emergency Medicine in 2015. He has served as an Emergency Department Physician at Mon Health Medical Center, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital since beginning his tenure at Mon Health in 2007. Dr.

Edwards also served in a dual role as Emergency Department Director at MHMC and SJMH from February 2017 – March 2018.

“I am honored to be named the Mon Health System Emergency Department Medical Director,” said Dr. Christopher Edwards. “As I transition into this role, I plan to implement consistent practices across the health system so that patients can expect to receive the same care in all Mon Health Emergency Departments throughout north central West Virginia.”

In addition to his service at Mon Health System, Dr. Edwards worked at Metro Health System, Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Fairmont General Hospital, Camden Clark Medical Center, Baptist Hospital and Wheeling Hospital.

A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, he served in Chief Resident roles while completing his internship and residency at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital and Southpoint Hospital. In addition, Dr. Edwards was chosen as one of 20 candidates selected by Schumacher Clinical Partners Health for the inaugural SCP Health Executive Leadership Academy in 2018.
