Mon General Hospital Opens New Helipad

Heart and vascular patients are transferred to Mon General Hospital from towns and cities across West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Now they can get here quicker – by helicopter – thanks to a new helipad on the hospital campus.
Located adjacent to the hospital’s east parking lot, the helipad was cleared for service by HealthNet Aeromedical Services following a test landing on Saturday, July 23.
“The helipad on campus will facilitate more timely transport of our patients without unnecessary delays that could occur if the helicopter had to land at the airport or at another site,” said Mon General Chief Operating Officer Sarah Woodrum.
“We want to get these patients into our Emergency Department or our Cardiac Catheterization Lab as quickly as we can to provide the best possible outcomes for them,” Woodrum said.
