Mon General Hospital Earns “A” Grade for Patient Safety
Posted Date: 11/7/2016
Mon General Hospital is the only hospital in Northern West Virginia recognized with an “A” safety grade by a leading patient safety watchdog organization.
The Fall 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades were announced in October by The Leapfrog Group. The program assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades for patient safety to hospitals nationwide.
“Receiving an “A” grade for patient safety from a highly recognized organization is a testament to the fulfilment of our vision to provide an extraordinary patient experience,” Mon Health System President and CEO Darryl Duncan said. “The staff at Mon General is dedicated to enhancing the health of the communities we serve and performing at the highest standard.”
Mon General was one of 844 hospitals nationwide to receive an “A” grade.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
The recognition from Leapfrog follows a recent ranking from U.S. News & World Report, where Mon General shared the No. 2 spot on the list of Best Regional Hospitals in West Virginia. Mon General was rated as “high performing” in five “Adult Procedures and Conditions” – more than any other hospital in the state.
