General Surgeon Byron Dodson, DO, Now Practicing at Mon Health

Mon Health Medical Center (MHMC) welcomes Dr. Byron Dodson, General Surgeon, to its medical staff. Dr. Dodson is pleased to be making a difference every day in the lives of his patients by his affiliation with MHMC. He was a medical student at the Center several years ago and chose to practice here because of the friendly staff who provide excellent, individual care.
“I liked the size of the Hospital when I was here. Since I began practice in Morgantown, the staff and other physicians have been so supportive. This is a nice office with a great team, and I am pleased to have chosen Mon Health Medical Center to practice,” said Dr. Dodson.
Dr. Dodson is a Ripley, WV, native and he and his wife, Arielle Placke, DO, have one daughter, Claire. Dr. Placke is a family practitioner at MHMC. Before coming to Morgantown, Dr. Dodson performed his residency, and eventually became chief resident, at the DLP Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA.
Perhaps the best recommendation for Dr. Dodson, besides his stellar academic background, is a comment by a recent patient who described him as an “excellent physician who is very caring and personable.”
Dr. Dodson has a prestigious resume. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science in biology with high honors including a NASA Space Grant Student Fellowship, University Honors Scholar, Golden Key Honor Society, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society.
“I have a variety of surgeries I perform including robotics, endoscopies, and surgeries for colon cancer and thyroid cancers. In general, I can provide the whole spectrum of general surgery including dialysis access,” said Dr. Dodson.
