Mon Health Welcomes New Chief Human Resources Officer

Posted Date: 3/27/2020
Chief Human Resources Officer, Katie Davison, began her tenure with Mon Health System on Monday, March 16, during the peak of planning for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Davison hadn’t even unpacked her bags when she was asked to meet with President and CEO, David Goldberg, on Sunday evening, March 15, 2020. “My message to her was simple: help us to keep our employees safe as we are preparing for an international pandemic. No pressure,” said Goldberg. “Oh, and by the way, welcome to the Mon Health Family!”

Goldberg shares that he couldn’t be more pleased of the work that Davison and her HR colleagues have done throughout the Mon Health System as they are implementing practices that are changing almost daily based on guidance from health care agencies and government officials. From implementing the Telework Practice to creating a system-wide travel reporting system for staff who have or are planning travel, Davison has jumped right in with a smile and a steady hand.

“We are highly impressed with Katie’s enthusiasm and energy,” said Goldberg. “She has truly hit the ground running and has been a key player as we support the community response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are thrilled to have her in this role.”

Davison brings nearly 20 years of experience in health care human resources to the position, most recently serving as the Vice President of Human Resources at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Prior to her Vice President experience, she held both Human Resources Executive Director and Human Resources Business Partner and Generalist positions at Nash UNC Health Care.

“I could not be happier with my decision to come to Mon Health,” said Davison. “The people, the facilities, and the community have been so welcoming. I’m eager to be able to learn more about the communities we serve once this health crisis has abated.”

Davison is the chief strategist for human resources initiatives, overseeing the teams from Mon Health Medical Center, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Davison possesses a Master of Arts in Legal Studies from West Virginia University, along with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. She has held her Professional in Human Resources Certification since 2007.
