Mon EMS Announces New Executive Director

Monongalia Emergency Medical Services (Mon EMS) has announced the hiring of Forest Weyen as executive director.     

Earlier in July, Mon Health System and WVU Hospitals signed a formal agreement to combine the assets of Mon EMS and HealthTeam Critical Care Transport, establishing a single, countywide emergency medical system to serve the needs of Monongalia and Preston county residents. Mon EMS is jointly managed and operated by Mon Health System and WVU Hospitals.

Jimmy Smith, director of emergency management and Mecca 911 said, “We are thrilled Forest is returning to Greater Morgantown and be in this position to continue to coordinate county, community and Mon EMS emergency efforts.  We look forward to his arrival and collaboration to benefit our community.”

Weyen returns to Mon EMS from Bennington, Vermont, where he most recently served six years as executive director of the Bennington Rescue Squad. Weyen earned his paramedicine certificate from Fairmont State University and worked as a paramedic and emergency medical technician for White Sulphur Springs Rescue Squad. He also worked with the Marion County Rescue Squad and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University. At Mon EMS, he served as a paramedic and operations chief from 2001-07.

He is hired to provide complete strategic leadership and oversight of the newly formed emergency medical service. He is a proven visionary and strategic leader with 24 years of emergency services experience.
