Posted Date: 11/1/2017
Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston have been awarded "A" grades for their commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades assigns letter grades to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms.
"Receiving this recognition not only emphasizes how seriously Mon Health takes patient safety but also the dedication of the staff to keeping patient safety a priority," said Mon Health President and CEO Darryl Duncan. "Our team strives to continually provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence."
“It takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An ‘A’ Safety Grade recognizes hospitals for this accomplishment,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the clinicians, Boards, management and staff of Mon Health Medical Center and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital for showing the country what it means to put patient safety first.”
Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice a year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
Only 832 hospitals nationwide received an “A” grade in the Fall 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood was not included in Leapfrog’s ratings because they do not evaluate critical access hospitals.
