Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital to host Children’s Safety Fair and Halloween activities

Posted Date: 10/8/2026

Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, along with the Lewis County Heart Society and the Lewis County Health Department, will host a morning of family activities Saturday, Oct. 31, on the hospital campus, including a Children’s Safety Fair, costume contest and color run.

The 16th annual Children’s Safety Fair will take place from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the hospital grounds, offering health and safety education alongside games, refreshments and pumpkin decorating. A costume contest will begin at noon.

This year’s fair will highlight pediatric dental care, with goody bags provided by Family Dentistry of Weston. Participating organizations will include the Weston Fire Department, 911 Center, Family Resource Network, Lewis County EMS and others. The Lewis County Health Department will provide vaccinations and education.

The event aims to give families practical tips and resources to help keep children safe and healthy.

Earlier that morning, the hospital and the Lewis County Heart Society will host a 1K Color Run in the hospital’s back parking lot. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the run at 9:30 a.m. A variety of prizes will be offered.

The run was originally scheduled for July 4 as the Firecracker Run. Children who registered for that event do not need to register again.

“This event brings families together for a fun morning while sharing health and safety information they can use long after Halloween,” said Julia Spelsberg, Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator, Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “We’re grateful to all of our sponsors, participating organizations and volunteers for helping make these activities possible and supporting the health and well-being of children in our community.”
