Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Shares its Heart Month Happenings

On Friday, Feb. 2, the hospital staff will celebrate National Wear Red Day by wearing red to raise awareness of heart disease as the leading cause of death in West Virginia. On Saturday, Feb. 3, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital is hosting a health fair at the Newburg Senior Center. Attendees will learn about chest pain and the signs of heart disease.
The hospital cafeteria is highlighting its healthy options menu as a part of Heart Month. Boxed salads will be available as a menu item each day, in addition to heart-healthy sandwiches.

Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the American College of Cardiology in January based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
As Heart Month is celebrated system-wide, Mon Health System is highlighting its heart health benefits offered to all employees. As it may be difficult to get heart-healthy due to everyday stressors, Mon Health System offers an Employee Assistance Program for employees and their families, providing mental health services, professional counseling, and advising through the program. Mon Health System also offers a fitness incentive program, providing discounted rates for gym memberships and compensation for exercising regularly.
