Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Honored as Premier Blood Partner by American Red Cross

The Premier Blood Partners program is designed to recognize the American Red Cross’ top blood drive partners and augment the tireless efforts they contribute to the community and national blood supply. To achieve this recognition, each drive hosted by a blood partner must collect a minimum average of 30 units per drive.
Each year, the hospital helps the Red Cross collect blood donations as part of a deep-rooted commitment to help save lives of patients facing illnesses and injuries in the community and across the country. In 2023, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital hosted six blood drives at the Kingwood Community Building and collected 184 units with the potential to impact 522 people.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition once again. Being a Premier Blood Partner is a real testament to the commitment of our hospital, community members, and volunteers who continue to grow our blood drives and further support our commitment to help others,” said Kim Liston, Community Programs Coordinator at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital.
Every day, volunteer blood and platelet donors across the country are needed to help save lives. Blood and platelets are needed for accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease, according to the Red Cross.
Donors of all blood types are needed. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors.
“Our blood drives really exemplify the care that the hospital and its volunteers have for enhancing the health of the community we serve,” said Liston. “We’ve been hosting blood drives for 42 years, and at each drive we have new and previous donors. It’s always great to see the community come together to make an impact.”
