Mon Health Hospitals Receive Gold Honor

Posted Date: 12/22/2020

We face many choices each day, but one of the most important decisions we make is in healthcare. We always choose the best for ourselves and our families while choosing quality healthcare close to home. Choosing care from the Mon Health System makes sense when patients see the long list of national honors and state designations awarded to the System. These honors demonstrate to the public that Mon Health provides excellent clinical care and extraordinary patient experience. These honors also equate to better medical outcomes.

The most recent honor for the Mon Health System is the Gold Honor awarded by the West Virginia Hospital Association (WVHA) to all four Mon Health Hospitals, including Mon Health Medical Center, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Grafton City Hospital. The Gold Honor in the Commitment to Excellence Honors Program is the highest designation in the Association’s program.

David Goldberg, President and CEO of the Mon Health System, is proud of this accomplishment and noted, “’ Feeling the Difference’ has been the theme of our System for several years. Our patients ‘feel the difference’ because of the first-rate clinical care and great positive patient experiences we provide. Our mission is to enhance the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time. This Gold Honor is proof of our adherence to that mission. That all four Hospitals in the system received this designation is especially meaningful. We are all proud to have a healthcare system for which our patients truly ‘Feel the Difference.’”

The Hospital Association explained that the Honors Program has three objectives - to:

  • Reward successful efforts to develop and promote quality improvement activities.
  • Inspire hospitals to be leaders in improving the health of West Virginians.
  • Raise awareness of nationally accepted standards of care that are proven to enhance patient outcomes.

The Honors Program is updated annually to reflect the quality improvement topics on which the WVHA Quality Committee has recommended pursuing excellence during the program year.

As the WVHA notes, “West Virginia’s hospitals seek to establish and maintain trust among providers, policymakers and the public through actions, sensitivity, professionalism and community-minded commitment to service. The Commitment to Excellence Honors Program (Honors Program) is a way hospitals’ can be recognized for the outstanding work they do in pursuit of these goals.”
