Mon Health System is pleased to announce that April O’Brien, PMP, Director of Telemedicine and Practice Outcomes Manager at Mon Health System, has been awarded the Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Award.

The award recognizes young professionals throughout West Virginia aged 40 or younger that are succeeding in their organizations and making a difference in their community. Winners are named as the next group of leaders who will guide West Virginia toward a successful future.

“We are honored and proud to have April on our team to help us enhance the health of the communities we serve. It only further demonstrates her dedication and hard work to Mon Health and her expertise in project management,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health.

April received her bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies with emphasis in English, Psychology, and Sociology from West Virginia University. April started at Mon Health almost four years ago with the goal of impacting her community through large scale endeavors. April has been a key contributor to multiple projects including the implementation of a robotic lung nodule biopsy program, blood-based genetic testing for lung cancer, and expanding telemedicine services with state-of-the-art technology to patients, local hospitals, and a telemedicine hub.

April assisted Mon Health in obtaining the Surgical Review Corporation Center of Excellence accreditation for Minimally Invasive Gynecology and Robotic Surgery. She also performs data analysis to help identify and support strategic initiatives within the organization. David Goldberg has nicknamed April the “Miracle Worker” for her ability to accomplish whatever project is set before her. Her patient care focus and raw determination has led to these successes.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive the Generation Next: 40 Under 40 Award. I’ve been blessed with opportunities to make my work count and I’m excited to give back to the community through healthcare each day. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!” said April.

To achieve such an accomplishment, nominees must demonstrate outstanding work for their organization by transforming West Virginia communities and demonstrating motivation, problem solving abilities, loyalty, and at least five years of proficiency in multidisciplinary management.
