Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital honors Burkett with DAISY nursing award
Posted Date: 9/9/2025
Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital proudly recognizes inpatient nurse Paige Burkett, RN, as its latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
The DAISY Award is part of a national program through the DAISY Foundation that celebrates the extraordinary compassion nurses bring to their patients every day. At Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital, the recognition is given twice a year to honor the dedication, kindness and clinical excellence of nurses nominated by patients, families and colleagues.
“Paige was absolutely amazing. My Dad was admitted, and she was his main nurse. She went above and beyond checking on him, talking to him and making him comfortable,” said a patient’s family member in a letter of support.
“Paige exemplifies the values we hold dear at Vandalia Health,” said Christopher Edwards, DO, Emergency Services Director of Mon Health System and Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital. “Her professionalism, empathy and communication make a true difference in the lives of patients and families, and we’re proud to honor her with this well-deserved recognition.”
“I started nursing to help people, and I’m very honored to receive the Daisy Award,” Burkett said. "It validates that compassion and caring need to be at the root of patient care. I’m grateful to work with such an incredible team that supports each other in delivering compassionate care every day.”
Nurses at Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital can be nominated for the DAISY Award by anyone who experiences or observes exceptional, compassionate care.
