Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Oncology Infusion Center Graduates First Patient

Posted Date: 6/3/2024

Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital saw its first chemotherapy patient graduate from the Comprehensive Infusion Center since its opening in October 2023.

On Wednesday, May 22, Taunia Sisler, a Preston County resident, became the first patient to complete the entirety of her chemotherapy treatments at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital.

“When I was told I had cancer I was very scared. My mind went in every direction possible trying to think of what to do. But I was quickly calmed down by my medical team at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital,” said Sisler. “My medical staff went above and beyond making sure that not only my cancer was being taken care of, but I was being taken care of as well. My entire medical team is my second family now.”

Sisler celebrated the end of her treatment at the infusion center by walking through the employee-lined hallways of the hospital to ring the newly mounted bell.

The bell was donated by two Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital members. The bell’s plaque was created and shaped by Brian Steffke-FNP and burned by Curtis Stiles, husband of Roxanna Stiles, HIM Clerk at the hospital. The bell will continue to serve as the final stop for all future patients at the infusion center.

“I recommend Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Cancer Center to be your first choice for cancer care, you won’t regret it,” said Sisler.
